Cha Can Ting
This neighborhood kopitiam is a favorite hangout for locals for breakfast, brunch, evn dinner, especially those from Ara Damansara and other parts of Petaling Jaya.
Expect a busy, but chilled atmosphere as well. Instead of the usual kopitiam atmosphere, Cha Can Ting plays popular music to accompany you as you enjoy your meal, and don’t be surprised to hear the MC speaking English!
It’s pet-friendly too, so don’t be surprised if you see a few adorable pups enjoying the vibe alongside their owners.
The cafe is open air, with roofs. However, there’s also a B zone, which is air conditioned and more comfortable.
The menu is full of delightful kopitiam classics. You can dig into dishes like:
- kai si hor fun,
- pan mee,
- beef noodles,
- curry mee,
- dim sum,
- nyonya laksa, and
- chee cheong fun
There also plenty of other local and outside favorites too. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy comforting, familiar flavors.

Wartek Ara Damansara [Halal]
Wartek at Ara Damansara offers a delightful dining experience with an authentic Indonesian street food vibe right in the heart of PJ. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with lively tunes creating a pleasant backdrop to your meal.
The Bebek Madura stands out with its crispy skin and tender meat, delivering an explosion of flavors reminiscent of Surabaya.
Their Soto Betawi and beef rendang are also highly recommended, offering rich, authentic tastes that are sure to please any palate.
The satay is another must-try, though it tends to sell out early—so arriving before 8:30 pm is a good idea.
Ordering is conveniently done via QR code, making the process smooth and modern. The restaurant’s semi-outdoor seating area provides a comfortable space to enjoy your meal, whether you’re with family or friends.
For those seeking a taste of Indonesia in PJ or Selangor, Wartek at Ara Damansara is truly a hidden gem.
Bring friends along to share in the experience—there are plenty of dishes worth trying, and the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed meal.
Wartek is an excellent spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic, Halal Indonesian cuisine in a friendly, vibrant setting.

Jatujak Bangkok Street Food
Jatujak Bangkok Street Food in Ara Damansara is truly a hidden gem. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s a full-on Thai street food experience in PJ.
The ambiance takes you right to a hawker setting, a lively buzz, just like a gamelan restaurant back in Thailand.
I’m still craving their creamy tom yum with huge prawn chunks, bursting with flavour. If you love spicy, ask for extra heat—it’s got that kick that’s hard to find elsewhere in KL.
Their pork ribs, tender with a nice caramelized char, are a must-try for non-halal diners. Also, the salted egg fried squid is spot on, crispy with that umami punch.
One small tip: grab a seat early, as this restaurant is packed by 7 PM, especially on weekends.
This eatery gives off a homey vibe, like a small family that serves homecook Thai-style meals. I’d call them for pre-booking if you’re planning a big group—trust me, it’s worth it.
Whether you’re after nasi, mee, or just a street food adventure in Petaling Jaya, Jatujak won’t disappoint.

Bon Appétit Restaurant @ Oasis Square
Bon Appétit in Ara Damansara is to me, an under-rated yet highly recommended restaurant that serves western dishes.
It’s tucked away in Oasis Square, Petaling Jaya, and food is a delightful surprise.
I recommend going for the sizzling lamb shoulder or Angus prime steak. If you’re in the mood for something lighter, the green salad with mushroom soup is excellent too.
Their flavour is spot on, and it’s cooked to perfection every time.
They also do a mean Hawaiian pizza, which might sound like a stretch, but it’s actually worth a try—the sweet pineapple really works with the tangy sauce and salted egg finish.
Their desserts, especially the lava cake, are amazing too.
Plus, the restaurant has a homely vibe. It’s run by a small family that serves comforting home-cooked meals. You’ll find yourself among families, friends, and even solo diners escaping the KL madness.

Cowboys BBQ & Grill [Halal]
Cowboys Barbecue & Grill in Ara Damansara is a great spot for hearty, flavorful western barbecue with a few standout highlights. It is owned and operated by a Malay, which should a solid indicator of the halal status.
The brisket is often melt-in-your-mouth tender, delivering that perfect smoky flavor barbecue lovers crave.
If you’re into big portions, the Yellowstone platter is a must-try. It’s a hefty selection, best tackled with friends – definitely enough to feed four comfortably.
The fried chicken is crisp and seasoned well, making it a crowd favorite. The lemonade is bottomless, which is a plus, especially in the hot PJ evenings.
You’ll find a welcoming neighborhood vibe here—people from PJ and KL come for that Texan touch, especially the Chuck Norris Platter. It’s the star, with brisket, chicken wings, and even some fried chicken thrown in.
The lamb, while a different take, still has a distinct smokiness that pairs well with the sides. For the meat lovers in Jalan PJU, Cowboys Barbecue is a good spot to indulge and enjoy some quality barbecue.
Overall, Cowboys Barbecue has the charm of a hidden gem in Ara Damansara. It’s a great place to gather with friends and enjoy some delicious, hearty dishes.

Lala Chong Seafood
If you’re hunting for the best Ara Damansara food, Lala Chong Seafood Village is the place. Their buttermilk crab is a must-try. The sauce sticks perfectly to the fried mantou—truly a hidden gem.
The ambience is open-air, which might get hot, especially with the Malaysian weather. Plenty of parking makes it an easy place to visit.
Their salted egg and tempura prawns? Worth every RM 60. The Nyonya siakap dish was top-notch. The fish came with a strong tangy sauce that’s highly recommended if you have a craving for Thai-Nyonya flavors.
While the price might be on the high side—especially dishes like sweet and sour crab, which cost RM 120+ for XXL size—the fresh taste and prompt service make it worthwhile.
Perfect for those big family dinners when you want something better than the usual kopitiam fare.

Thai Nyonya BBQ Restoran
Thai Nyonya BBQ in Ara Damansara is a local favourite. It’s a cozy place run by a small family that serves homecook-style Thai dishes with bursts of authentic flavour.
The prawn tom yum is a spicy, salty delight, while their set menus offer great value, especially if you come with friends. There’s even special price offers, such as Pad Kra Pow for only RM10.90 only.
The ambiance is casual and laid-back, perfect for enjoying a warm bowl of tom yum, or chicken green curry on a lazy afternoon.
Service can be a bit slow, especially during peak hours, but it’s worth the wait for the homecooked-style Thai food they serve.

Soup & Speda Fish Noodle Soup [Halal]
Soup and Speda is a place run by a small family that serve homecook dishes. It serves likely the best fish soup noodles in town, and it also doubles as a place for bicycle enthusiasts to hang out and chill.
For the fish soup, you can customize your bowl in many ways. Choose from a wide variety of fishes – carps, salmon, or groupers.
Then pick your soup type (clear or milky), before deciding on the noodle types. There are also options for dumplings, if you are into that sort of thing.
Many appreciate the deep flavors in the soup – the fish stock are likely made from a good amount of fish bones and heads. They are also likely full of collagen, perfect for those looking to nourish their skin.
The fish fillets are tender and easy to slurp into the mouth, while the atmosphere is chilled and easy.
I find it best to come here for dinner, to have a nice soupy meal to end the work day. If you work around Ara Damansara, consider visiting for a dinner before braving the traffic home.
